FAQs
Why Choose Midwifery Care?
Personalized & Holistic Approach: Midwives often spend more time with you, addressing your physical, emotional, and educational needs.
Empowerment: Midwifery care encourages informed decision-making and active participation in your care.
Lower Intervention Rates: Midwives tend to have lower rates of unnecessary interventions, such as epidurals, cesarean sections, and inductions, unless medically necessary.
Continuity of Care: Many midwives offer continuous care throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period, building a relationship of trust and familiarity with you and your family.
Midwifery care is a wonderful option for those who want a more personalized, less interventionist approach to childbirth, especially for low-risk pregnancies. However, it’s important to consult with a midwife early on to make sure that you’re a good candidate for out-of-hospital birth and to discuss your preferences and needs.
Insurance: Will My Care and Birth Be Covered?
Initial payment deposit is due at the first appointment with final payment due by 36 weeks. As an out-of-network care provider, I will bill your insurance as courtesy after delivery, and your insurance may reimburse you directly. Reimbursement rates vary depending on your plan. This allows me to provide detailed and personalized care for every client without the limitations that insurance imposes on providers.
Do I Also Need to See an Obstetrician?
No, midwives are licensed by the Medical Board of California, and you do not need to see an OB in addition to your midwife. Should any risk factors arise, I will consult or transfer your care to your preferred obstetric provider.
