Hospital Support
If you choose to give birth in a hospital but want a more personalized, supportive experience, I can be an essential part of your birth team.
In the hospital, I act as your advocate, ensuring that your preferences are heard and respected within the medical environment. I’m here to help you communicate your birth plan to the hospital staff and support you as you navigate medical procedures. I’ll make sure you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your care.
I’ll also help you understand the options available to you, explain any interventions if needed, and give you the space to make choices that align with your values and wishes for your birth.
While many hospital births involve rotating staff, I provide continuity of care, meaning I’ll be there with you throughout the duration of your labor. This helps reduce stress and anxiety, as I’ll already be familiar with your preferences, needs, and concerns, so you won’t have to explain everything multiple times to different hospital staff members.
One of the most significant emotional benefits of having me as your midwife is the continuous emotional and physical support I offer during labor. I’m trained to help you stay calm, comfortable, and empowered throughout your labor, whether that’s through breathing exercises, massage, positioning suggestions, or offering pain relief options that align with your preferences.
I’ll create a calm, supportive atmosphere and ensure you feel listened to and encouraged, helping reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed or rushed in the busy hospital environment.
Hospitals can be fast-paced and filled with protocols, and I play a critical role in making sure your birth plan is respected. Whether you want a natural birth, have specific preferences for your labor environment (like dim lighting or music), or prefer a more hands-on approach, I’ll ensure your wishes are honored.
With my experience in supporting low-risk births, I work closely with the hospital team to create an environment that supports both your physical and emotional well-being.
Birth can bring up a wide range of emotions—fear, anxiety, excitement, and uncertainty. I’m here to provide emotional reassurance, helping you feel grounded and empowered during each stage of labor. I’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, offer words of encouragement, and provide a calming presence to help reduce stress during the birth process.
After your baby is born, I continue to provide emotional support as you navigate the early postpartum period. I can assist with breastfeeding, guide you through newborn care, and check in on your emotional well-being to ensure you feel supported as you adjust to life with your new baby.
I also support your partner and family members in the hospital. I’ll educate them on how they can best assist you during labor, answer their questions, and help them feel involved and informed. This can ease any feelings of helplessness or uncertainty your support team may have during the process.
